We have enjoyed the friendship of Anne and Earl Wilson, whom we met on a cruise to Bermuda.  They have many interests.  I asked them to choose between cats and sailing and they chose sailing.

I saw a quilt like this at the Quilt Expo here in Raleigh and found the pattern online.  Of course I had to change the boats and add pennants of red ribbon at the top of the masts.

To further customize the quilt for the Wilsons, the blue boat in the bottom right corner has the name “Bonnie Doon” embroidered on it – the name of their boat.  To show the way the Wilsons’  political wind blows ( in the state of Georgia), their boat is the only blue boat and the only boat sailing left.
