My brother Jimmy Bargeron and his wife Dee were both volunteers with the Midway Fire Department, so when their first child  was born, it seemed like a logical theme for a baby quilt.

You might think this is unusual for a girl’s quilt, but I (correctly) assumed that Ruthanne would grow up to enjoy breaking stereotypes about women as her mother still does.

The ladders are ribbon and narrow trims.
