She says the secret to this cake is creaming the butter, shortening, and sugar until it looks like ice cream.<\/p>\n<p>This is not a true pound cake because it has more than &#8220;a pound of butter, a pound of sugar, a pound of flour and a pound of eggs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 sticks margarine or butter<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 C. shortening<\/li>\n<li>3 C. Sugar<\/li>\n<li>5 eggs<\/li>\n<li>3 C. flour<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 t. baking powder<\/li>\n<li>pinch salt<\/li>\n<li>1 C. milk<\/li>\n<li>1 t. vanilla<\/li>\n<li>1 t. almond extract<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Cream the butter, shortening, and sugar well. Then add eggs, one at a time. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together 3 times. Add the flour and milk alternately.
