Jackie Sayre Adair is Becky’s sister. Last spring their father died. This is a quilt made for Jackie from some of Bill’s T-shirts. As well as being a loving father, husband, grandfather and Chicago sports fan, Bill was a deacon in the Catholic church so he had quite an assortment of souvenir shirts. Enough to go on the front and back of another lap sized quilt.

Sometimes I just can’t make the T-shirts cover the whole quilt. Big blank spaces don’t look right, so I’ve started filling in with quilting motifs. When I put a rainbow on Becky’s quilt, Judy and Jackie both proclaimed they wanted a rainbow of their quils too. In this context it is a symbol of hope and God’s promises.
