Color Sense

I took a class at Bernina titled “Color Sense”  It was a most enjoyable class taught by Annie Smith and I learned a lot.  One of the things I learned is that it’s OK to march to your own drum.  I followed instructions and had as much of the darkest fabric as any of the other 9 fabrics.  I thought the dark fabric weighted it down.  I decided to use it like pepper in a recipe – to taste, not the same amount as every other ingredient.  You can see it in the upper right and lower left blocks.  So the seam ripper was a very important tool on this quilt.

All the squares are the same block and it’s fascinating how color placement affects they way they look!

I also added extra borders just because I like the way they look.

Here’s a detail of the center square.
