Laurie’s Aunt Betty

I’d heard so much about Aunt Betty from my friend Laurie I felt like I almost knew her.  When Aunt Betty died, I offered to make a quilt and Laurie accepted.  I hadn’t realized that Aunt Betty was a good seamstress herself.  Laurie gave me some fabric from Aunt Betty’s house, some clothes Aunt Betty had sewed and some clothes she had bought.  The fabric brought back memories of the ’60 and ’70’s.  Do you remember Kettlecloth?  I washed everything  and even the old fabric was in good shape.  Laurie liked the BROKEN DISHES quilt pattern, so I used that.  I only had to add a little gold and green solid color fabric from my own stash to help even out the colors.  Laurie chose lavender for the border and back – Aunt Betty’s favorite color.

It’s double bed size with 16″ drop so it will keep the warmth in.  Laurie lives in Colorado now so she might need that.  Here is the quilt spread over my grandmother’s antique bed.
