Rag Quilts are fun to make! I liked this one so much I ended up making 3 of them. One for Andrea Gardner, one for Mary Frazier and one to keep. They are 3 layers thick – the bright Christmas fabrics, red flannel, and a white, red and green flannel print on the back. The two layers of flannel make them extra cozy. I had to wash the red flannel about 7 times before it finally stopped bleeding color.
Rag quilts should be washed after the seams are clipped to get out a lot of the little bitty threads and make a soft fluffy fringes. My washing machine has a self-cleaning lint filter and I am worried it might get stopped up, so I take rag quilts to the laundromat for their first washing.
